ABSTRACT

Experimental work on prestressed concrete slabs is often associated with specialized laboratory setups and prestressing beds, which can be expensive and not always practical for small-scale studies. In this study, a simple and practical setup is developed to allow testing of pretensioned slab specimens without relying on conventional prestressing systems. The setup was developed as part of an experimental program investigating prestressed concrete slabs reinforced with GFRP and steel, with the aim of providing a practical method for preparing and testing small pretensioned concrete slab specimens on site. The setup consists of reinforced concrete beams supporting the slab, along with steel IPE sections and 2 cm thick steel plates connected using 12 mm and 16 mm bolts. A slab size of 1 × 2 m is used in this study. The purpose of this study is to show that prestressing experiments can be carried out using a simpler and more practical setup. This approach provides a practical solution for preparing small pretensioned slab specimens on site and can support future experimental work in prestressed concrete research.
