After Indonesian independence in 1945, the country's construction industry underwent a significant transformation from the classic European construction model, gradually adopting various technologies and construction practices from various countries. While previously it relied heavily on guidelines and contract forms inherited from the Dutch era, new and innovative project delivery methods are now gaining popularity. Along with this shift, the model of construction education and training in Indonesia has also undergone significant changes. This paper will briefly describe the history of the development of the construction industry in Indonesia since the end of the Dutch colonial period in the 1800s until today and specifically discusses how this relates to how the construction education has evolved and the direction in which it will develop in the future. This paper will also discuss a rethinking of construction sector education based on feedback regarding the effectiveness of construction sector education in Indonesia, given the problems in construction project implementation to date and the challenges that will arise in the future.
