Human activities that degrade the natural environment have intensified sustainability challenges, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions. In Gaziantep, one of the most densely populated cities in Southeastern Anatolia, recent urban expansion has converted agricultural and forest lands into residential areas, creating risks for environmental, social, and economic sustainability. This study specifically investigates the İbrahimli and Erikçe districts, formerly agricultural and forest areas now inhabited largely by upper-income families, to examine how urban development affects sustainability. The research applies a novel combination of field photography, SWOT analysis, and expert surveys to develop and evaluate strategic scenarios aimed at mitigating further environmental and social impacts. Data were analyzed using SPSS, and the results indicate that establishing a social center is the most suitable strategy for İbrahimli, whereas halting development or converting the area into recreational space is most appropriate for Erikçe. The study provides actionable insights for managing urban growth while balancing multiple sustainability objectives.
