      <title>ABSTRACT</title>
      <p>With the construction industry facing increasing pressure to reduce its environmental footprint, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) have emerged as a pivotal tool for promoting sustainability.  This article provides an overview of EPDs, emphasizing their role in evaluating and communicating the environmental performance of construction materials and products. The background of EPDs, their development process, and their impact on sustainability practices within the industry are explored.  The analyzed case studies demonstrate how EPDs contribute to informed decision-making in construction projects, fostering a more sustainable approach to building design and material selection.  In Lithuania, as in many countries, the construction sector is increasingly focusing on sustainability and environmental responsibility.  Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) have become a significant part of this shift towards green building practices.  EPDs provide detailed information about the environmental impact of building materials and products over their entire life cycle, from raw material extraction through to disposal or recycling.  This information is vital for architects, builders, and developers who are looking to design and construct buildings that meet high environmental standards.</p>
