Cultural and Networking Tours

Cultural tours are planned for Thursday, July 26 2018 and Friday, July 27 2018.

Interested participants and guests can register at EURO-MED-SEC2 registration page.

A minimum of 30 people is required to proceed with the prices listed below.

Cultural Tour 1: Thursday, July 26 2018

Ancient Wonders Tour (Jeita, Harissa, Byblos)

Visit Jeita Grotto, one of the most impressive underground caverns, nominated to be one of the eighth “Wonders of the World.”

Visit our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa. Admire the breathtaking view.

Head towards Byblos, the oldest inhabited city in the world since 7000 years, who originated the Linear Alphabet. Admire temples of hybrid styles from Pharaohs to Mesopotamian, Ancient Crusader Castle and Ruins, St. John Baptist’s Church and the Old Port. Stroll its narrow streets & souks.

The picturesque village of Deir El Qamar was the residence of the Ottoman-appointed governors of Lebanon at the beginning of the 16th Century with Emir Fakhreddine II till the 18th Century, when Emir Bechir II Chehab moved the capital to Beiteddine. Visit Fakhreddine’s Mosque.

The Chouf Mountains are wild and beautiful, peppered with small villages and terraced for easy cultivation. Olives, apples and grapes are fed by numerous springs and wells. Several rivers divide the land into steep canyons.

At the outskirts of Deir El Qamar, visit Moussa Castle (OPTIONAL), a child dream that became a reality.

Head towards Beiteddine Emir Bechir’s 18th century Palace and summer residence of the President of Lebanon. Admire its decorated ceilings, its world’s finest collection of Byzantine Mosaics, Harem Suites and groomed gardens.

Proceed towards Barouk, a stunning summer town with abundant spring. Barouk and Maaser El-Chouf forests have the largest number of Ancient Lebanese Cedars (cedrus Libani) – some are thought to be aged 2000 years. It is estimated that species of 200 birds and 26 wild mammals either live in or pass through the area. Historically, the village is known for being the "land of good", because of its richest natural fountain (Nabeh-el-Barouk) that stands 1943 m above sea level.

Lunch at El Yammine restaurant (Barouk) surrounded by the majestic Chouf Cedars reserves and lovely trickling sounds of El Safa famous waterfalls and well-known watermills.
