Zürich is the largest city in Switzerland and the capital of the canton of Zürich. The city is Switzerland's main commercial and cultural centre and sometimes called the cultural capital of Switzerland, the political capital of Switzerland being Berne. Zürich can be counted as one of the world's pre-eminent global cities.

According to several surveys from 2006 to 2009, Zürich was named the city with the best quality of life in the world as well as the wealthiest city in Europe. The Zürich metropolitan area has a population of about 1.68 million people.

Zürich summer weather - Warm summer sunshine

Average summer temperatures in Zürich are very pleasant for sightseeing and even swimming in the city’s rivers and lakes. Our weather chart for Zürich shows temperatures are in the mid 20ºs in June, July and August. Zürich temperatures rarely go as high as 30º. Bring something warm for summer evenings when temperatures can drop to around 15º. Zürich summer weather brings a festive spirit and attracts the largest number of visitors to the city, but this is also the wettest time of year. Zürich weather can be rainy at any time of year. Rainfall actually peaks in the summer, though often in short heavy storms that reduce humidity and will not unduly affect your holiday.
