Keynote Speaker I - Dr. Soliman Khudeira

Section Chief-Major Projects at Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT)

Dr. Soliman Khudeira is a Section Chief of Major Projects with the Chicago DOT. He is Adjunct Professor with Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), where he teaches Design of Transportation Facilities, Research Problems, Special Projects, and FE and PE Review courses. He is the Chief Editor of ASCE’s Journal of Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction. He was the past President (2020-2021) of the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois (SEAOI). He received ASCE’s Citizen Engineer of the Year Award from ASCE-IL, 2021. He has over 35 years of Civil Engineering experience in the private and government sectors. He received his BS, MS, and PhD in Civil Engineering-Structures from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago.


Keynote Speaker II - Prof. Mani Golparvar

Co-Founder of Reconstruct

Dr. Golparvar is Professor of Civil Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology Entrepreneurship at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  His pioneering work in the area of computer vision and machine learning for construction has been the recipient of many awards including 2018 Walter Huber Research Prize from American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2017 National Top 20 Under 40 from ENR; 2016 Dan Halpin Award for Scholarship in Construction and 2013 James Croes Medal for innovation in Civil Engineering from ASCE; 2013 and 2010 CETI awards from FIATECH; and numerous best journal and conference paper awards.

Dr. Mani Golparvar is the CTO and co-founder of Reconstruct, a Software-as-a-Service company that creates reality models from photos and 360 videos and integrates them with building information modeling (BIM) and project scheduling to visually track progress, analyze productivity, and proactively detect potential delays using predictive analytics; in turn empowering construction companies to keep their projects on schedule and on budget. Reconstruct is currently used across the world on construction and inspection project and has been recognized by several industrial awards such as 2018 Top50 Crunchbase Startup Companies, 2016 World Economic Forum’s award for most innovative idea for a construction startup company and 2016 Innovation Award from Turner Construction.
