Transportation in Quito

*Ecuador's currency is the US Dollar

Taxi

We recommend taxis for any transportation with in the city. Uber, Didi or InDriver also work within the city of Quito.

All official Taxis are yellow in Quito. They must use a meter to charge, make sure it is running once the ride begins. The minimum fare with in the city is $1.50 at day time and $2.00 after dark, (for a 5-10 minute ride depending on traffic). Make sure you have change or at the most a $10 bill.

You can flag taxis on the street but we recommend calling a taxi service. Ask the hotel front desk or the booth in the front entrance of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) to call one for you.

Bus

There are many buses in Quito. And many go by the conference venue. We do not use the set bus numbers, we use the start and end stop names to identify which one to get on, which makes it challenging if you are not familiar with the city and the language. There is no clear route map in place. Google maps may guide you but please confirm with your hotel or member of the local committee beforehand since the information is not always accurate.

The fare is $0.35, so please make sure you have adequate change.

There are set bus stops(approximately every other block) but no set time schedule. Most buses run from 6am to 8pm. Please be aware of your surroundings when taking public transportation and walking.

Transportation from Aeropuerto Internacional Mariscal Sucre (UIO) / Quito Airport to conference venue and nearby hotels

There is a set price for yellow taxis to and from the Quito airport/ Aeropuerto Internacional Mariscal Sucre(UIO) to the venue and nearby hotels of $25. The journey time is about 45 minutes.

Check with your hotel if they offer a pickup drop-off service from the airport.
