Arriving in Christchurch

For all out-of-town and international attendees, your gateway to the conference is Christchurch International Airport (CHC).

The Airport: CHC is New Zealand's second-largest airport and is located approximately 22 km north of Lincoln University.
Direct Flights: The airport offers direct domestic flights to and from Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown, and major regional hubs, as well as direct international flights from Australia, Asia, and North America.

If you are heading straight from the airport to Lincoln or your accommodation nearby, you have several quick and reliable options:

Journey Time: 20-25 minutes.
Estimated Cost: $65 - $85 NZD.
Rideshare: Head to the designated Rideshare Pick-up Zone located behind the purple Express Park building (just outside the arrivals terminal).
Taxis:A taxi rank is located directly outside International Arrivals (Door 7).

Super Shuttles: Shared, door-to-door shuttle vans are available directly outside Door 9. They are ideal if you have heavy luggage. You can pre-book online or arrange one upon arrival.
Local Private Shuttles: For direct, pre-booked private transfers between the airport and the Selwyn/Lincoln district, you can book local operators.

There is no direct bus route from Christchurch Airport to Lincoln, but you can easily make the trip using the Metro Christchurch network:

Take Route 3 (Airport to Sumner) from the airport bus stop.
Transfer at Westfield Riccarton to Route 80 (Lincoln).
Paying for your fare: You do not need a transit card; you can pay directly on the bus using any contactless credit/debit card or smart device (Apple Pay/Google Pay).
Free Transfers: Your fare includes free transfers within 2 hours, making the entire trip to Lincoln incredibly cost-effective (approximately $2.00 - $4.00 NZD).

If you are staying in Christchurch's Central Business District (CBD) and commuting to Lincoln University daily, you can travel via bus or car.

Metro Christchurch offers excellent, frequent services connecting the city center to the Lincoln University campus:

Route 80 (Lincoln): Runs daily every 30 minutes, connecting the Christchurch Bus Interchange to the Lincoln University campus.
Route 81 (Lincoln Direct): An express commuter peak service that travels directly between the central city and Lincoln. Note: This service runs Monday to Friday during peak morning and afternoon hours only.

The Drive: The drive from Christchurch CBD to Lincoln University takes approximately 25-30 minutes via the Christchurch Southern Motorway (SH 1) and Springs Road.
On-Campus Parking: Parking is available across the Lincoln University campus. There are designated general and visitor parking zones.
EV Charging: If you are driving an electric vehicle, there are public EV charging stations located at the Lincoln University Union Carpark (access off Calder Drive).

Lincoln is a beautifully flat, compact, and green university township.

The Lincoln University campus is highly pedestrianized and easily navigable on foot.
Most local shops, cafes, and accommodation options in the Lincoln township are within a pleasant 10-15 minute walk from the campus.

If you plan to rent a car during your stay, please keep these safety rules in mind:

In New Zealand, cars drive on the left-hand side of the road.
Strict speed limits are enforced, and seatbelts must be worn by all passengers at all times.
